Gradiant takes part in 4 Years From Now (4YFN) second year in a row, the startup business platform of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that enables startups, investors, corporations and public institutions to discover, create and launch new ventures together.
From Febraury 25th to 28th, Barcelona joins the fastest growing digital startup event in the world to connect startups, investors and corporations during Mobile World Congress, the largest gathering for the mobile industry. With more than 20300 attendees, 600 startups, 700 investors and more than 270 speakers, 4YFN offers unique connecting initiatives, such as custom networking activities, technical abilities workshops, congresses, community outreach and open innovation programmes.
Gradiant has its own space at 4YFN within the Spanish Pavilion (Montjuic Hall M8, booth T3.1) to showcase new technology solutions to detect fraud and manipulation of ID documents and images.
Hand in hand with the ICEX, this is the second time that Gradiant attends 4YFN event. In 2018, the center presents its biometric solutions for digital on boarding and KYC processes, biometric login on mobile devices. As Miguel Regueiro, National Business Development Manager of Gradiant, explains “being selected for the second year in a row to participate in an event of this international importance confirms the value of Gradiant’s technologies, and demonstrates the real concern of companies and society for document fraud”.
Technologies to prevent fraud
The world has changed, and we live in an increasingly digital environment in which customers do not have to be physically present to open a bank account or take out insurance on their vehicle. While this scenario provides great advantages for customers and businesses such as easy shopping and customer growth, it also carries security problems like fraud or manipulations of documents and user verifications. Insurance companies and banks, for instance, with online processes, already need mechanisms to authenticate and verify the thousands of ID documents they daily receive in digital processes.
It is essential to provide technology for the protection and identification of multimedia files (video, image and audio) that can ensure document security. Techniques such as digital watermarking -to highlight illegal use of a digital service by an unauthorized user-, robust hashing, multimedia forensics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, combined or on their own, make manipulations and falsifications detection faster and easier.
Gradiant has been developing for ten years different projects in multimedia security to different sectors, such as the authenticity or the traceability of printed documents to identify the person responsible for the custody of a certain document in filtration cases. To help companies to prevent fraud, Gradiant has developed a solution based on image forensics technology that detects forgeries in ID documents, photos or other files. The democratization of technology has made file falsifications (such as photos and ID documents) increasingly imperceptible to companies and institutions.
