Gradiant presents QRYPTION, a new advanced financial cryptography project that could become its fifth spin-off

QRYPTION, the fifth Ignicia project awarded to Gradiant, aims to improve the management and protection of cryptographic assets within financial institutions
During the session, Gradiant also presented its two latest spin-offs created under this programme: KIUR and DOKKEN, both based on artificial intelligence
Gradiant, a leading ICT technology centre in Galicia, took part today in an information session on the Ignicia Programme, organised by the Galician Innovation Agency of the Regional Government of Galicia. During the event, the centre presented QRYPTION, a new technological project selected under this initiative that aims to become its fifth spin-off.
QRYPTION was selected in the 2025 Ignicia Proof of Concept call and is being developed to address the growing requirements for security, management and scalability within the financial ecosystem and digital payment systems.
According to Jaime Loureiro, Head of Advanced Data Security at Gradiant, “this financial cryptography solution currently stands at TRL 6, meaning that the technology has already been validated in relevant environments.”
The objective of this new phase within the Ignicia Programme is to drive the development of the technology to TRL 9, completing its technical validation under real operating conditions and refining its business model with a view to its effective commercial exploitation and the potential creation of a company based on this innovation.
QRYPTION, which was selected in the fifth edition of the Ignicia Proof of Concept call with an investment of €386,166, will enable financial institutions and operators within the payments ecosystem to securely, scalably and automatically operate and manage their cryptographic systems and assets.
Among its main innovations compared with existing technologies and solutions are end-to-end lifecycle management of cryptographic assets, automatic asset inventory and automatic key migration between cryptographic systems from different providers.
The technology is aimed at a wide range of actors within the digital payments value chain, including financial institutions — both traditional and challenger banks — fintech companies with payment processing needs, payment networks and operators, financial IT service providers, as well as large retailers that operate their own payment networks.
Participation in this event allowed Gradiant to present QRYPTION as an example of the potential of applied research to generate market-transferable innovation and new business opportunities in cybersecurity and financial technologies.
KIUR and DOKKEN, the two new AI-based spin-offs incubated by Gradiant
During the event, Fernando Jiménez, Managing Director of Gradiant, presented what he described as the “Gradiant universe”, highlighting the organisation’s five spin-offs -four of them originating from Ignicia projects- as well as TRL13, the first European fund promoted by a Spanish technology centre combining deep tech, technology transfer and ICT.
The session also introduced the two most recent spin-offs created by Gradiant under this programme: KIUR and DOKKEN, both based on artificial intelligence.
Óscar Pérez, CEO of KIUR, explained the key features of this application, which uses artificial intelligence to analyse images of chronic wounds and help determine the most suitable product for improved treatment. KIUR, a project selected by the CaixaImpulse programme of the “la Caixa” Foundation, aims to reduce costs and improve therapeutic outcomes by providing healthcare professionals with an AI-based decision-support tool.
Meanwhile, Faustino Castro, CEO of DOKKEN, explained how this intelligent enterprise document processing tool, typically used for orders, invoices and delivery notes, helps optimise costs associated with staff time dedicated to manual document review. DOKKEN automates the process, eliminates potential errors arising from human review and helps companies manage internal inventories more efficiently, while also automatically generating quotations, invoices and delivery notes.
