The general objective of the SENSING BTS project (ELECTRONIC TELECOM SYSTEM AIRBORNE BASED ON SOFTWARE RADIO FOR MOBILE TERMINAL GEOLOCATION) is to provide the global market with a portable GSM signal sensor, with the capabilities of a GSM base station and a mobile terminal location service. This system can be used by any search and rescue team worldwide to automatically locate lost individuals, establish communication with them, and thereby reduce the rescue time. The SENSING BTS project involves a high level of research and great complexity, as a complete architecture will be defined for the device to be developed based on Software Defined Radio. Additionally, this architecture must include the development of hardware, software, and location algorithms. This is an experimental development project aimed at the specification, design, and validation of a base station for telephony, to facilitate the work of rescue teams.
