TransMisiones 2024: 110 million euros for the digital transformation of Spanish companies
Proposals for research projects funded by the TransMisiones 2024 investment programme of the State Innovation Agency (AEI) and the CDTI can be submitted from 23 May. The aim of this initiative is to foster a more competitive and sustainable business fabric in the country by promoting public-private partnership. It also seeks to promote research that provides solutions to the cross-cutting and strategic challenges facing Spanish society. The budget allocated by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities for this programme is 110 million euros: 70 million from CDTI and EUR 40 million from AEI. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 21 June.
This financial aid is aimed at both large companies and SMEs, as well as technology centres and other research bodies. To apply, interested entities must form clusters of companies (CDTI cluster) which will cooperate with clusters formed by research and knowledge dissemination organisations (AEI cluster). Proposals will be consolidated in a ‘coordinated action report’ to be submitted to two windows: the AEI window for the research organisation cluster and the CDTI window for the business cluster.
Eight missions in search of sustainability
Proposals must be based on one of the eight missions set out in the call for proposals and with a focus on sustainability.
Cleaner energy
Three of the missions of the TransMisiones 2024 programme focus on energy transition:
Fostering the development of a fusion industry: promoting research and development of key technologies to advance the viability of nuclear fusion as an energy source.
Energy for the 21st century: projects giving a boost to research into advanced fuels, bio-based energy sources and synthetic fuels developed from captured CO2.
Projects researching and proposing circular economy practices, focusing on recycling and resource recovery in the context of renewable energies and energy storage.
Industry 4.0
This mission of TransMisiones 2024 refers to projects that seek to foster the secure development of Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing, along with cross-cutting technologies to transition towards automation in industry.
More efficiency and sustainability
This mission aims to promote research into systems aimed at the preservation and sustainable use of the coast and the ocean in the face of climate change. Initiatives that allow for coexistence between traditional and emerging activities.
The programme promotes projects that seek to boost genetic improvement in agriculture and aquaculture. With this mission, the Ministry of Innovation and Industry seeks to generate opportunities for research and development of genetic improvement techniques in plant varieties and animal and aquatic species to increase their sustainability, efficiency and resistance to climate change.
TransMisiones 2024 also proposes as its mission to prioritise animal health and welfare. Therefore, it promotes the development of immunological tools such as vaccines, innovative drug treatments and early detection technologies for animal diseases, with the aim of maximising their health and welfare.
Health
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the future challenges for our society. In the eighth mission, the programme proposes a line focused on research in infectious diseases. The aim is to advance the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases and thus strengthen research and public health systems.
Good partners
Gradiant has more than 15 years of experience in research and development projects of technological innovation with public and private entities all over Europe. Our organisation has carried out more than 200 regional, national and European projects with institutions and companies for the development of technologies that are applied to sectors such as industry 4.0, agriculture, livestock and fisheries, health, banking, education and telecommunications, among others.
One example of this work is PlatGDIA, which emerged from last year’s TransMisiones programme and has an overall budget of 6.2 million euros. This consortium is made up of the group of companies (CDTI) formed by MTP, as coordinator; CEAMSA, ELLIOT, PLEXUS and SORALUCE and the AEI group, which we coordinate and which also includes the University of Castilla La Mancha and IDEKO. PlatGDIA aims to develop a digital twin creation platform to drive an advanced and competitive industry.
In this case, Gradiant is working specifically on the development of standard and interoperable components for the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technologies within Digital Twins as applied to the industrial sector. With this technology, we will be able to help companies in the industrial environment manage the development, management, monitoring and execution of Machine Learning models. We also seek to enhance our expertise in the generation of federated data.
