Veraquo helps organisations and users verify the authenticity of information and reduce the risk of fraud with financial or reputational consequences arising from the malicious use of generative AI
Gradiant, a technology centre specialising in deep tech technologies that transforms knowledge into innovative solutions with a real impact on industry and society, has received international recognition that strengthens its position in deepfake detection.
Veraquo, the multimodal detection platform developed by the technology centre, has been named the winner of the CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards 2026 in the “Deepfake Detection Solution of the Year” category. The award recognises Gradiant’s technological developments in an increasingly important area of cybersecurity: the detection of manipulated or artificially generated content.
Veraquo uses artificial intelligence technologies to analyse multiple layers of risk and detect signs of manipulation or synthetic content generation. Its multimodal approach enables the analysis of different types of content and addresses scenarios involving digital fraud, identity theft, disinformation and the protection of digital evidence.
The solution can analyse images, videos and audio recordings, including artificially generated content and cloned voices, and offers functionalities for analysing and tracing digital content. The platform is particularly useful for businesses and organisations, helping to prevent fraud, identity theft, document forgery and other malicious uses of artificial intelligence. It can also support media organisations in verifying images, videos and audio recordings before publication or distribution.
Veraquo is therefore designed to help organisations and users verify the authenticity of information and reduce the financial and reputational risks associated with the malicious use of generative AI.
“This recognition comes at a time when the expansion of generative AI is transforming the nature of digital fraud. The creation of synthetic content is becoming increasingly accessible and sophisticated, while the ability to distinguish authentic content from manipulated content with the naked eye is diminishing,” says Juan González, Director of Security and Privacy at Gradiant.
“Generative AI is changing the relationship between content creation and verification. The easier it becomes to generate synthetic information, the more important it is to have mechanisms capable of analysing its authenticity and providing evidence to support decision-making. In this context, content verification helps businesses and organisations prevent fraud and make decisions with greater confidence,” he concludes.
Recognition strengthens Gradiant’s position in deepfake detection
This award places Veraquo in the spotlight of an international programme dedicated to cybersecurity and strengthens Gradiant’s position in a field that will become increasingly important for protecting digital identities, information and transactions.
The solution enables the technology centre to move towards a model in which content verification forms part of the security layers required to operate confidently in digital environments, particularly as generative AI becomes increasingly integrated into business and societal processes.
“The ability to verify what we see, hear or receive will be essential to preserving the integrity of digital decisions and reducing exposure to emerging forms of fraud. In a world where generating fake content will become increasingly easy, verifying it will be just as important as creating it,” adds Juan González.
Gradiant presented Veraquo internationally at RSA Conference 2026 in San Francisco, one of the world’s leading cybersecurity events, where it showcased the platform’s capabilities for detecting manipulated images and videos, as well as cloned voices.
