Luis Pérez Freire Presents ATIGA’s results at MeetechSpain 2024
The Galician Intersectoral Technological Alliance attended the annual FEDIT event, with its own stand, at the forefront of national R&D&I
The Galician delegation took part in the technology showroom which attracted hundreds of companies attracted by R&D&I and technology made in Galicia from the like of AIMEN, ANFACO, CETIM, CTAG, ENERGYLAB, GRADIANT and ITG, which have exceeded 105 million in revenue in 2024
Luis Pérez Freire, Vice-President of the Galician Intersectoral Technology Alliance and Executive Director of Gradiant, spoke at meetechSpain to offer an account of some of the milestones achieved in 2023 by the seven technology centres that make up ATIGA.
Last year, AIMEN, ANFACO, CETIM, CTAG, ENERGYLAB, GRADIANT and ITG “exceeded 100 million euros in revenue for the first time, 6.6 percent more than in 2022”, said Pérez Freire, who also pointed out that these figures were achieved while maintaining more than 1,700 stable highly-skilled jobs across the seven centres.
“Galician technology centres developed more than 500 R&D&I projects in 2023, 30 percent of which received European funding for their financing”, said the Vice-President of ATIGA during his speech in the Speaker’s Corner, who highlighted the growing importance of areas such as sustainability, the development of clean energy and connected mobility, which is the focus of the 2024 edition of MeetechSpain.
“Here at ATIGA, we offer advanced solutions in different sectors, ranging from the food or automotive industry, in which we are a trusted name internationally, to energy or telecommunications, where we seek to position ourselves globally thanks to the fact that we have both the resources and the know-how required”, said Pérez Freire, who highlighted the synergies created from the research and technology centres with the productive fabric, vital links so that “applied research and innovation bear fruit”. “In our opinion, this commitment to excellence and sustainable development not only strengthens local companies, but is also positioning Galicia as a leading region in technology and innovation on the international stage, which is ultimately the mission we have been entrusted with as technology centres,” he concluded.
Just like last year, ATIGA had its own stand at meetechSpain, which seeks to consolidate the transfer of knowledge and the exchange of experiences between technology centres, research organisations and companies with an innovative profile in order to continue supporting R&D&I as an instrument for the generation of wealth.
Participation in round tables on sustainable mobility and connectivity
The presence of Galician technology centres at meetechSpain was also noted in the debate initiatives proposed by the organisation to analyse the contribution of national R&D&I to those areas that are leading innovation.
One of them is undoubtedly mobility. The director of Technological Innovation of the Galician Automotive Technology Centre (CTAG), Ana Paul, took part in the round table discussion on infrastructure, technologies and networks for sustainable mobility, addressing the projects that are leading technological development in sustainable transport and the challenges that the automotive sector will have to face in the coming years.
Luis Pérez Freire took part in the round table on Connectivity and Data Management for Mobility: success stories for a technology of the future, where he discussed with the heads of innovation of transport companies such as ALSA and with executives from other technology centres such as Leitat or ITI, also specialised in the development of intelligent systems for more efficient transport.
