The board of directors of the Galician Intersectoral Technological Alliance renews its posts for another four years with Jesús Lago as president and Roberto Alonso as secretary general

The association plans four years in which it will continue to contribute to the sustainable development and economic growth of Galicia through collaborative R&D&I with industry.

The General Manager of Gradiant, Luis Pérez-Freire renewed his position as vice-president of ATIGA after the assembly held a few days ago by the Board of Directors of this association. In addition, the president, Jesús Lago, from AIMEN and Roberto Alonso, from ANFACO-CECOPESCA, also renewed their positions in the association for the next four years. The Board of Directors will be made up of one representative from each of the technology centres that make up the association: AIMEN, ANFACO-CECOPESCA, CETIM, CTAG, ENERGYLAB, GRADIANT and ITG.

The renewed Board stressed the need to address a number of challenges for this new period, which will run until 2028. For the technology centres, the sustainable development and economic growth of Galicia depends to a large extent on the competitiveness of companies. This is where the collaborative R&D&I of the industry with the different agents of the ecosystem plays a relevant role. Technology centres will be a key source of support for the transfer of knowledge generated in the innovation ecosystem to the business fabric, as agents specialising in technology transfer.

Collaboration between Universities-Technology Centres

In addition, it is also very relevant for ATIGA to strengthen the collaboration policies between Universities and Technology Centres over the next four years. The association wants to reinforce its role in the co-creation of strategic lines of research, which are fundamental, both to facilitate their arrival to industry, as well as to capture knowledge and generate quality employment in Galicia.

Another challenge they consider crucial for the seven technology centres to continue to grow is to strengthen the tools for their stable public-private financing. This will increase technology transfer, with a greater national and international presence of industry in national and European research programmes and, therefore, a greater economic return for Galicia.

Finally, the extension of the infrastructures in the technology centres made available to industry will be promoted. Galicia’s technology centres serve as levers for open collaboration and leveraging public investment in Galicia and are an example of efficiency.
