Mental Health Care: Much Needed in the Workplace
Gradiant has implemented a mental health programme for its staff with the company Mentiness
Over several sessions, a team of psychologists offered various tools to deal with situations such as stress and to promote the development of emotional intelligence
Framed within our policy of care and attention for the people who are part of Gradiant, the technology centre has launched a programme in collaboration with Mentiness. The aim of this mental health programme was to provide the team with useful tools to deal with different common emotional and psychological situations. The experience has been very well received by all the staff who have attended and participated in the four sessions of this programme. Issues such as stress, emotional intelligence and leadership management were some of the topics addressed in each workshop by a team from the company Mentiness, which specialises in this type of initiative.
Psychology in the field of technology
Nine employees participated over the four-day programmed offered by the Mentiness team.
Among the topics discussed, the Mentiness team has proposed to the people working in Gradiant, issues such as emotional management in work teams, myths about therapy and, of course, stress. Specific examples were also given of how stress affects different teams and how to detect it. Other workshop activities focused on how to manage communication or leadership through emotional intelligence.
A healthy workplace
In an increasingly demanding and competitive world, taking care of mental health isn’t just a trend; it’s a necessity. The mental health of employees is a key factor of any company’s success, given how it relates to the climate within the company, the well-being of the individual and, therefore, his or her productivity and motivation.
According to the WHO, mental health is a state of well-being in which each individual develops their potential, can cope with the stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully , and can contribute something to their community.
The time people spend in the office, the daily contact with the people they work with, the normal vicissitudes of any occupation, make the work environment the place to take care of mental health. This is why the Mentiness proposal for organisations like Gradiant is such a great opportunity to generate real change and improve people’s wellbeing.
