Barriers, education, and the lack of role models shape the conversation in this third session of Tech Talks with a gender perspective

Six women technologists specializing in different fields discuss the future of women in STEM

For decades, the lack of female role models and the so-called “Matilda effect” have rendered the contributions of many women in science and technology invisible. However, the landscape is changing, and it is essential to continue promoting initiatives that encourage women’s access to and retention in STEM. At Gradiant, we have created a space for reflection with female technologists who are leaders in the sector. In previous sessions, we discussed innovation and challenges. In this third session of Tech Talks with a Gender Perspective, we explore the future challenges for women in STEM.

La importancia de los referentes

The guests in this episode reflect on the extra effort women often have to make to stand out in technology and share the insecurity and perfectionism that many experience when making professional decisions. Once again, they highlight the key role of teachers in career choices, explaining how, in some cases, they served as motivators and inspiration to study engineering.

This session features María Purriños and Claudia Rey from the Advanced Communications area, Carmen García from the Multimodal Information area, Alicia Silva and our Head of Primary Sector, Carlota Cañamero, both from the Intelligent Systems area, as well as Lara Blanco. The discussion concludes with an important reflection—don’t miss it! As with the previous episodes, the production of this four-part series was handled by Peaky Branders and Trece Amarillo agencies.
