Tech Talks: Technology, Equality and Responsibility for an Inclusive Digital Transformation

The first episode addresses one of today’s most debated technological issues: social media, artificial intelligence, and malicious use
The objective of this initiative is to open the conversation on how to build a more equal, diverse, and responsible ICT ecosystem
Technology is advancing at great speed, but not always in an equitable or inclusive way. The gender gap in the ICT sector remains a persistent and structural reality, rooted in the earliest stages of the education system and extending throughout professional careers. In this context, Gradiant presents the second edition of Tech Talks with a gender perspective, a space for dialogue and reflection on technology, society, and the future.
This initiative aims to highlight the role of women in technology, encourage STEM vocations among girls and young women, and foster a necessary debate on how to design and develop technology based on principles of equality, ethics, and social responsibility.
Season Two: Four Conversations to Understand Digital Transformation
Following the positive reception of the first edition, Gradiant’s Tech Talks return in 2026 with a second season that maintains the original spirit while incorporating new voices and perspectives. Across four roundtable discussions, we will explore the key pillars of inclusive digital transformation:
-
Social media, artificial intelligence, and malicious use, a timely and necessary discussion on the social risks of AI, disinformation, the amplification of hate speech, and the need to design safer and more ethical platforms.
- Entrepreneurship and technological leadership, exploring how women are driving new ways of leading and innovating in strategic sectors such as AI, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and other disruptive deep tech fields.
- Primary education as the starting point for equal opportunities, analysing how stereotypes are formed at an early age and the role of educators in identifying and nurturing technological talent.
- Technology development with a gender perspective, focusing on algorithmic bias, responsible design, and the real impact of incorporating diversity into teams that create technology.
A Sustained Commitment to Equality in Technology
At Gradiant, commitment to equality has been part of our culture for years. Since 2018, we have celebrated Women’s Month, pioneering initiatives within a technology centre such as Women Technologists and 21st Century Technologists, two outreach actions that recover historical female role models in science and technology while also giving visibility to the professionals currently developing their careers at our centre. These initiatives have been complemented by other activities, such as the 21st Century Technologists lecture series, aimed at inspiring young women to pursue STEM careers.
In 2024, we took a further step with the launch of the first edition of Tech Talks with a gender perspective, marking the natural evolution of these policies. These conversations brought together women technologists from Gradiant and other organisations in a close, safe, and debate-friendly environment. The goal was to open a dialogue on how to build a more equal, diverse, and responsible ICT ecosystem, using an accessible and socially impactful format capable of reaching new audiences.
These talks aim to raise awareness about the structural biases that still persist in technology, question how digital solutions are designed and developed, and actively contribute to social change through knowledge, outreach, and example.
The audience for Tech Talks is broad and diverse, but united by a common purpose: to promote real transformation in how we understand and build technology.
Beyond its outreach value, Tech Talks is integrated into the dissemination and awareness activities of R&D initiatives in which Gradiant participates, including ICAREWOUNDS and QUORUM, addressing research and innovation challenges with tangible societal impact.
With this second season of Tech Talks, Gradiant reaffirms its commitment to developing technology with purpose, technology that not only innovates but also reflects on its impact and responsibility. A space to learn, share experiences, and contribute — through knowledge and dialogue, to a more just, inclusive, and sustainable digital transformation.
