Opening / Ending Jul 2023/ Jun 2025
The 6GDIFERENTE project addresses two major challenges of advanced 6G mobile communications: the establishment of aerial device communications and the continuity and quality of services in virtualized Edge environments in mobility situations.
Additionally, aligned with the 6G network development timeline, we will explore new promising and fundamental technologies for 6G. These are particularly those identified both at the level of European communication networks R&D support programs (6G-IA and SNS-JU) and by the scientific community regarding the new functionalities expected from future 6G networks.
6GDIFERENTE builds on a solid technological foundation established in a previous project, Open-VERSO (2020 – 2023), which was also funded by CDTI through its Cervera program for technological centers.
Within the Cervera priority technologies, 6GDiferente is framed in the field of advanced mobile networks, contributing to the advancement of Deep Learning and AI in this area and exploring the future application of Quantum Computing.
Therefore, in 6GDIFERENTE, we address the following:
- Non-Terrestrial Networks for the integration of satellite systems.
- Edge-Cloud Continuum and automatic resource discovery to improve network computing capabilities and adaptability.
- Millimeter waves, quantum and wireless sensing, and STAR (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive) systems to increase network capacity and adaptability to the deployment environment.
- Network monitoring and AI to enhance the analytical and predictive capacity of networks.
- Energy and spectral efficiency to reduce environmental impact.
