The 6GDIFERENTE project addresses two major challenges in advanced 6G mobile communications: the establishment of communications for aerial devices and the continuity and quality of services in virtualized Edge environments in mobility situations.
Additionally, the project will explore new, promising, and essential technologies for 6G, especially those identified in European R&D support programs for communication networks (6G-IA and SNS-JU), and by the scientific community in relation to the new functionalities expected from future 6G networks.
We start from a solid technological foundation, established in a previous project: Open-VERSO (2020 – 2023), funded, like 6GDIFERENTE, by the CDTI under its Cervera program supporting technological centers.
Within the Cervera priority technologies, 6GDIFERENTE is framed in the area of advanced mobile networks, contributing to the advancement of Deep Learning and AI in this field, and exploring the future application of Quantum Computing.
In 6GDIFERENTE, we address the following:
- Non-Terrestrial Networks for the integration of satellite systems.
- Edge-Cloud Continuum and automatic resource discovery to enhance network computing capabilities and provide adaptability.
- Millimeter waves, quantum and wireless sensing, and STAR (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive) systems to increase network capacity and its adaptability to the deployment environment.
- Network monitoring and AI to provide networks with greater analytical and predictive capabilities.
- Energy and spectral efficiency to reduce environmental impact.
