SATUAV02
Start / End
December 2013 / December 2015

The objective of the SATUAV project is the design and development of a system that communicates a mobile platform with a Ground Station via a Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite. The physical layer at both ends is based on the S-UMTS standard and was implemented using Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology. The mobile terminal was embedded in both a UAV and a car for field testing. The goal was to assess the practical performance of different adaptive techniques for the physical layers in the return link, as well as to study the inclusion of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the link adaptation algorithms.
