The Remote Opening System project, which is an extension of the access control system, allows the automatic opening of the entrance door from any physical location through a simple web interface, functioning like an intercom.
The different parts of the system are integrated into a single application: control of the opening hardware via a parallel port, the web server, and control of the external webcam.
In this line, future developments are planned, such as user authentication (filtering by IP or MAC address) and improved feedback (video instead of image).
Part 2 (January 2009):
A module based on WinLIRC has been integrated into the application, which, together with a small infrared receiver connected to the serial port, allows the door to be opened with any conventional remote control. It is only necessary to program and assign a button on the remote to the event.
