Shadow is an automatic tool for tracing documents using digital watermarking techniques. Acquired in its entirety by ElevenPaths as part of Telefónica Tech and presented during Security Innovation Day 2017, its purpose is to provide clues in the event of confidential information leaks, helping identify those responsible for the breach.
Problem
Today, leaks of confidential information are a threat to any type of organisation.
That’s why it’s so important to be able to identify the source of any problems, allowing for the identification of those responsible in the event of a leakage of information once the documents are outside the trusted area for which they have been created.
Solution
To deter and counter these threats, there is a need to implement security measures to protect information, both in digital and paper format. With Shadow, each copy is unique, offering a “personal” copy to the user (with an identifying mark) by making non-intrusive modifications to the document that make each copy virtually identical to the original document.
At the same time, it allows the automatic classification of scanned documents by adding information about the contents of the documents, facilitating the archiving of documents after scanning. Hidden information is rendered resistant to many distortions, such as those that occur in the process of printing and scanning documents.
The system is available as an SDK with a configurable and simple API, enabling quick integrations into third party applications, both stand-alone and client/server applications.
