21st Century Women Technologists: Dolores Núñez
We introduce you to our colleague Dolores. A fan of sports and reading, Dolores is a Telecommunication Engineer and for 8 years she has been part of the Gradiant family. This woman from A Coruña settled in Vigo she is currently working as a researcher and developer in Multimodal Information Department and she declares herself an unconditional fan of cinema and horror series.
What did you want to do when you were younger?
My father always told me stories before sleeping where I was a successful executive, so I wanted to be an independent woman with a big black briefcase and a red cabriolet.
Why did you choose technology for your future?
Since I was a little girl I always considered myself as a clumsy for world of Arts and I was better in Sciences. I loved spending hours solving problems of all kinds.
Where did you plan to do your career? Why?
I chose Telecommunication Engineering because it offered many possibilities in a world that I liked, and I did it in Vigo because it was closer home.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on Biometrics and Android mobile applications.
What do you like most about your job?
In my job, I really enjoy finding a problem, finding the right tools and dealing with them to solve it. The excellent working environment with my colleagues is also very motivating.
Who is your feminine reference in tech world?
I do not have a reference in tech world. The main reference in my life has always been my mother for her strength and courage.
What would you say to future technologists?
I would say them to try to find a job they enjoy without worrying about opinions or external conventions.
