The SAFEinBED project (Continuous Monitoring System for Bed Users) aims to develop a new system to prevent serious injuries in people at high risk of falling, developing pressure ulcers (PU), or experiencing agitation or delirium episodes through continuous, non-intrusive monitoring that respects their privacy. The project involves research, as well as development and innovation. Gradiant will contribute, on one hand, with research into movement patterns and personalized monitoring protocols. On the other hand, it will develop a technological system for monitoring bed users, even during the night. This new system integrates a camera equipped with a depth sensor, which captures depth images analyzed using artificial intelligence algorithms. An alarm module notifies the caregiver when a risk situation is detected or when a certain amount of time has passed since the last posture change in bed.
